Water based inorganic zinc powder anti-rust top coat for ferrous metal consists of part liquid (alkali silicate) and part solid (high-purity zinc power) mixed in a special formula to obtain the following characteristic:
(1) Good water resistance, sea water resistance, oil resistance, solvent resistance, salt frog resistance, acid rain resistance and alkali and acid resistance when mixed in a special formula. It offers protection against rust and corrosion up to a period of 25 years.
(2) It is water based, non poisonous, containing no V.O.C, no flare point and does not release harmful pollutants to the environment. It is safe during application , storage and transportation.
(3) It provides for cathodic protection on broken parts; chipped off paint work and tiny holes. Scuff can also be treated by the zinc reactant..
(4) The film coating has good adhesiveness with high elasticity and tenacity that reaches 1000CBS per inch. The hardness of the film can reach 9H and thus provides for strong protection against sand flow. Ideal in preventing ship hull's abrasion when entering into the dock and coated part's abrasion during transportation.
(5) It has no influence by the melting point of zinc. Capable of moment high temperature resistance up to 800 deg C, long term high temperature resistance of up to 400 deg C which meets most fire safety requirement.
(6) It has very small influence by weather, sunlight, ultraviolet radiation, rain, fungus and temperature, which is not easy to chalking and remain the thickness after several years in the open air.
(7) Low viscosity (lower than 20CPS), hence resulting in saving on raw materials. Dried film consist in excess of 90% zinc powder, thus enhancing the effectiveness of its anti-rust performance. Several coats can be applied to ensure new layers bind with the old one. No diffusion and flake off occurs when coated film is accidentally broken. Upon recoating, the new coat will bind with the surrounded paint and retains its original anti-rust performance.
(8) Able to sustain Y ray or neutron's bombardment; no change on its performance when subject to above 1X1010R atomic radiation. No chalking under strong sunlight.
(9) Unlike conventional organic paint, it does not shrink while drying. Adapts easily to the surface shape during application.
(10) The coated surface will not be damaged by cutting and welding. Welding can be carried out over the coated surface without affecting the quality of the welded area.

6、Precaution during application:
(1)、Add zinc powder into resin and mixed thoroughly at the same
time before us. When it is too thick, 5-10% water could be added
for thinning. Zinc powder paint after mixing should be
filtered with mesh of #60 - #80 before coating.
(2)、No organic solvent or oils should be used or mixed with zinc powder paint.
(3)、Coating Tools should be cleaned with sodium silicate liquor before application.
(4)、Ferrous metal surface should be treated with sand blasting following and reaching the standard (SIS SA21/2) before top coating.
(5)、Usage ratio: Resin 1kg, Zinc Powder 3kg (by weight).
